Kathryn Rudge shines at carol concert
The annual Clatterbridge Cancer Research carol concert took place at Liverpool Cathedral on December 4.
Mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge opened the evening with O Holy Night, by Adolphe Adam.
Kathryn, 25, has just made her professional opera debut with the English National Opera and was joined on the bill by Stanfield, Merchant Taylors’ Junior Girls’ School Choir and West Kirby Light Opera Society. Daniel Bishop accompanied the carols.
Readings were given by Gina Withinshaw, John Coppack, Peter Foreshaw, Geoff Greenwood and Pete Seeger.
John said: “I felt very honoured to have been asked to read at such a prestigious event. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.”
Diana Hoskins attended the carol service and said: “The highlight was the beautiful singing of Kathryn Rudge. What a voice! Absolutely superb.”
In the programme notes Clatterbridge Cancer Research joint directors Catherine Sandow and Jo Parry welcomed everyone and thanked them for their support throughout the year.
Everyone at Clatterbridge Cancer Research would like to thank the wonderful performers and readers for their time and thanks to all those who supported the event.
