The clinical trials we have funded will not only bring treatment benefits to cancer patients in our region – but will also impact on the global fight against cancer.
Below are just a few examples of our Clinical Trials.
Breast Cancer Treatment Trial
Our Clinical Trial Nurses participated in a phase 2 SNDX trial for breast cancer. Only 25 people took part in this trial worldwide; 3 participants were at Clatterbridge. We played such a key part in this research that our findings have been taken to the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium in Texas – widely renowned as the world leading event in breast cancer.
Prostate Cancer Treatment Trial
We also led research into prostate cancer through our involvement in the Cougar Study. We were the 1st site in the UK to open the study and the 2nd in Europe, and had 14 people willing to be screened to check for suitability to take part in the trial.
Pain Management Treatment Trial
Not only did we trial treatments against cancer, we also researched improved pain management and participated in a Spray Sativex Trial. This was an exploration study of ‘Sativex’ to attempt to relieve pain in patients with advanced stages of cancer.
