Clatterbridge - Cancer Research - Understanding Cancer

Southport Committee

Southport_main

The Southport Committee is one of our most active Committees – a group of dedicated, generally fabulous and often fearless people, who give up their spare time to raise funds for the research we do at CCR. Quite simply – we can’t thank them enough.

Since forming the Southport Committee in 1994, Pat and Peter Howard have raised an incredible £165,000 in memory of their son, also called Peter, who died from cancer.

The Committee currently has 13 members who organise a calendar of events from the fabulous Southport Big Night Out to a now near famous annual tennis tournament.  The current members are:

  • Pat and Peter Howard
  • Pam Hepple
  • Amanda Robertshaw
  • Dale Newman
  • Jeanette Morgan
  • John Ford
  • Charles Lawrence
  • Mike McLoughlin
  • Mike Williams
  • Vicki Fairweather
  • David Robertshaw
  • Mandy Rothwell

But in their quest to raise money for Clatterbridge Cancer Research, the Committee aren’t afraid to test their fear and endurance levels and have taken part in the Three Peaks Challenge as well as completing parachute jumps and triathlons.

The Southport Committee are also the brains behind Around the World in 80 Ways – so if you see a group of people pogo-sticking or space-hopping around Southport, say hello – it might well be one of the Committee members raising money to get our chick a few miles further on his journey.

If you are interested in helping the Southport Committee please contact David Robertshaw on 0771 890 2947.
